Workshops are more than education, they are community. At Pronto, we firmly believe in the power of community workshops, to help educate Long Islanders about aspects such as healthy eating, wellness and resource connection.
Our workshops often work with community partners, such as fellow nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies. Our Health and Nutrition workshops are often a big hit, and are led by our on-staff nutritionists. Through these demonstrations, we are able to help people make healthier decisions when it comes to nutrition, and helps them lead overall healthier lives. Our health is intrinsically tied to what we eat, however, many people lack the knowledge surrounding this concept. Through our workshops, we are able to educate the people we serve, and thus they can make better choices.
One such example was our Easter celebration. To celebrate the Eater holiday, Pronto worked with Division Latinos, in which we had multiple vendors and resources available for hundreds of families. One key aspect was our food demonstrations, in which our nutritionist was able to demonstrate how to make healthy salads. These salads were met with great acclaim, with many people asking for copies of the recipe. On top of the healthy food demonstration, we were able to help connect community members to additional resources, such as health screenings and employment opportunities.
This was just one example of how Pronto is helping to shape lives through its work. Through the support of our neighbors on Long Island, we can continue to help people, one person, one meal, at a time.
Pronto of Long Island would like to thank the Guru Krupa Foundation for their support. The Guru Krupa Foundation has played an instrumental role in helping us make a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
